Should City win then they could move up to as high as 17th, overtaking Cardiff City and Birmingham.

If Hull City secure a positive result and the Robins lose then they could drop to 20th in the league.

For Peterborough, a win coupled with results going in their favour, would see them as high as 22nd.

Form guide and head-to-head

Against Peterborough, City have a good record, having won six of their last seven matches against them, with their last being a 3-0 loss in September 2013.

Peterborough haven’t got the strongest record, having lost 13 of their last 18 games against them. They have though performed better on the road and in four of the five matches, they’ve avoided defeat when playing away.

City have struggled to keep goals out this season and have conceded in each of their last nine home matches, with 17 goals for and 17 against.

Peterborough are looking for successive wins for the first time in almost a decade after winning against Queens Park Rangers last time.

But what will go against them is that Nigel Pearson has never lost a home match against them in the Football League.

This will be the 49th meeting between the two sides with City winning 28 to Peterborough’s 14 whilst there have been six draws.

John Books has been appointed as the referee and he will be assisted by Derek Eaton and Lee Venamore with James Linington the fourth official.

Books hails from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire and had been a Premier League assistant referee. This will be his first City game this season, but he has overseen 15 matches and brandished 53 yellow cards and no reds.

The last time he was involved in a City match was when Watford inflicted a 6-0 thrashing in February 2021.
