Bristol City extended their unbeaten run to six matches as they drew 1-1 to Championship play-off hopefuls Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Haydon Roberts’ tidy finish from Tommy Conway’s cross sent the visitors in front midway through the second period.
The Canaries struck back inside three minutes as Josh Sargent squared to Borja Sainz who slotted into an empty net.
The result sees the Robins remain in 12th place in the table.
Norwich almost snatched an early lead after Mark Sykes lost possession in the middle of the park, the hosts broke forward and Sargent fizzed a low effort against the post and back into play.
However, Manning’s side didn’t sit back and a quick counterattack almost forced an opening goal.
Scott Twine picked the ball up and sent Sykes through on goal, the winger had the option of passing to Conway for a tap-in but he chipped the ball over Angus Gunn but wide of the post.
The visitors were almost made to rue the missed chance moments later when Marcelino Nunez flashed a volley narrowly over the crossbar.
The match turned into a bit of a basketball match midway through the first half as both sides began to create opportunities.
Twine sent a free kick from the edge of the area onto the crossbar after a touch from Gunn, before Norwich hit back when Sainz’s half-volley was held onto by Max O’Leary.
Twine had another effort stopped by Gunn before the break as the match was goalless at half-time.
Like the first, the Canaries made a fast start to the second period. Sainz flicked the ball over Rob Dickie’s head and forced George Tanner to clear for a corner before Nunez’s delivery rolled across O’Leary’s goal line and out of danger.
Again, the Robins replied strongly. Twine pulled a ball back to Ross McCrorie whose effort was blocked before Joe Williams could only fire over the crossbar.
Williams was involved again moments later when he found the run of Conway who pulled a cross back to Roberts to slot the ball home and put his side in front.
However, the visitors’ lead lasted for less than three minutes.
A speculative long ball from Shane Duffy was latched onto by Sargent as the ball evaded Tanner’s outstretched leg.
The American rolled the ball to Sara who slotted into an empty net to equalise.
The Canaries stepped their tempo up after the goal and Jonathan Rowe forced O’Leary into a strong save, but it was the Robins who almost went back in front.
A brilliant switched pass from Roberts found the head of McCrorie who sent the ball across the goal.
Gunn reacted well to scrap the ball away but could only find Twine, whose effort was somehow pushed behind by the goalkeeper.
The Robins thought they’d snatched it in the last minute when Williams’ free kick was bundled home by Harry Cornick, but the offside flag was raised.
Here’s how the Robins fared...

1. Max O'Leary - 7
Had a couple of simple saves to make in the first half, but nothing he wouldn’t have expected to stop, could have done little about the goal as he was left in no man’s land and made a good stop from Rowe to keep the score at 1-1. His kicking was generally good. | Getty Images

2. George Tanner - 7
Wasn’t troubled at all in the first period but was neat and tidy on the ball and looked assured, he faced a tougher test against Sainz after the break but dealt with the tricky attacker well in truth. Will be disappointed that he couldn’t intervene with the loose ball for Norwich’s goal but he played well. | Getty Images

3. Rob Dickie - 7
Aggressive at the back and his return bred confidence in those around him, made a couple of well-timed clearances from crosses into the area and hardly put a foot wrong at the back. | Getty Images

4. Haydon Roberts - 8
Fired his side in front with an excellent sweeping finish into the far post and almost crafted another goal with a pin-point switched pass to McCrorie. Defended confidently and always looked to play forward when in possession. | Getty Images
