Bristol City predicted XI v Middlesbrough: Quadruple change likely as ex-Man City starlet could make debut and midfield duo return

The Robins travel to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon

Bristol City will look to record a first Championship victory of 2024 when they travel to face Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Robins are yet to win a league match in 2024 after three defeats and two draws in five.

Their FA Cup form, however, has been quite the opposite.

Liam Manning’s men forced Premier League side West Ham to a third-round replay as they eventually knocked the Hammers out at Ashton Gate, before heartbreakingly going out on penalties to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Cam Pring and Taylor-Gardner Hickman both missed the match against Forest through suspension, which should see them fresh to start against Boro.

Likewise, new signing Dire Mebude could be involved for the first time, however, Scott Twine will miss the match due to injury.

Kal Naismith, Mark Sykes, Rob Atkinson and Ayman Benarous will also be unavailable for the match in North Yorkshire.

A win against Carrick’s outfit could see City move into the top half and close the gap on the top six, but they will face a tough task.

Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their last three matches in the league and defeated Chelsea 1-0 at home four weeks ago.

Isaiah Jones will provide the biggest threat in attack, and the Robins will need to be assured defensively to earn a positive result.

The last time the sides met, City ran out 3-2 winners in a thrilling encounter, as Gardner-Hickman, Tommy Conway and Sykes were on target for Manning’s side.

Here’s how I think the Robins will set up…
