The Robins have beaten Swansea City and West Brom in the previous rounds and their reward is that Pep Guardiola’s men are returning to the West Country for the first time in five years.

Both sides were victorious on the weekend with Nigel Pearson’s side winning 1-0 against Hull City thanks to a Nahki Wells penalty. The Citizens won convincingly in a 4-1 victory against AFC Bournemouth with Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden all on target and an own goal from Chris Mepham.

Bristol City team news

Anis Mehmeti and Harry Cornick have to support their teammates from the sidelines on Tuesday night as both are cup tied. Mehmeti played for Wycombe in the previous rounds as did Cornick for Luton Town.

Kal Naismith’s calf injury has him out until just before the international break or most certainly after it. He complained of the problem at Preston away and it is the second time he has had an injury in that area.

Last week the news was broke that Rob Atkinson would be out for the rest of the season. The 24-year-old has ruptured his ACL and will undergo surgery in the next few weeks. Ayman Benarous - who has not played a minute of competitive football - ruptured his ACL when he was returning from a long-term injury and will not play a part this season.

Tommy Conway is making progress after an injury sustained against Swansea in the third round of the FA Cup. A hamstring tendon injury rules players out for between six to ten weeks and the Scotland Under-21 international is making progress.

Pearson has described Kane Wilson as a bit way from action following his return from a knee injury. Wilson has been playing for the Under-21’s but has yet to be considered for the match day squad.

Manchester City team news

Kevin de Bruyne was an unused substitute last Saturday and also missed the 1-1 draw with Leipzig in the week through illness. Aymeric Laporte was out for the same reason and was not involved in the squad whatsoever. It could give the Belgian superstar the better chance after he resumed training on Friday but Laporte did not.

John Stones was not in the 18-man squad either against Bournemouth and that was down to a hamstring injury. He limped off against Arenal and Guardiola admitted at the start of February that he could be out for a month but he has since resumed partial training.

Out: Anis Mehmeti, Harry Cornick, Kal Naismith, Tommy Conway, Rob Atkinson, Ayman Benarous, John Stones. Doubtful: Kane Wilson, Kevin de Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte.
