Bristol City continue to battle away near the bottom of the Championship.

The Robins claimed a 1-1 draw with Coventry City last time out, on New Year’s Day, and they are now preparing to face rivals Swansea City in the FA Cup. In the meantime, Nigel Pearson will be assessing potential signings as he looks to strengthen his squad, but City will not be alone in strengthening during the winter window.

Whittaker interest

Swansea City star Morgan Whittaker may not be back at the Liberty Stadium for long at all.

Whittaker was recalled from his loan move with Plymouth, and East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Town are now interested in snapping the Swans star up on loan, but there is also a slew of interest from Championship clubs.

Swansea may opt to sell Whittaker permanently this time around, and it will be interesting to see whether the 21-year-old will end up in League One or the Championship.

Sunderland are said to be chasing a deal for Nottingham Forest star Sam Surridge.

Surridge is set to leave Forest on loan this month, and it’s claimed a number of clubs have expressed an interest in a deal. According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Sunderland are pushing for a deal, but they face competition from Championship leaders Burnley.

Surridge has scored seven goals in 24 league appearances for Forest since joining from Stoke City in January of 2022. Surridge is a striker, but he is more of a hold-up man than a goalscorer.
