Bristol City travel to Bramall Lane as they hope to put behind them their weekend disappointment against Watford at Vicarage Road. The Robins suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Hornets, despite having some opportunities to get back on level terms.
Watford saw the return of Alex Scott, who made his first club appearance in almost a month after recovering from a knee ligament injury whilst on international duty. The 19-year-old came on as a substitute, and that was always going to be part of the plan as Pearson eases him back in. A fully fit Scott would be one of the first names on the team sheet, but Nigel Pearson is keen for him not to get injured again, and that's a good cautious approach to have.
This could be an experienced bench against the Blades, because on Monday afternoon we saw Omar Taylor-Clarke, Harry Leeson, Callum Wood and Marlee Francois play for the Under-21's. They can't be expected to potentially feature in two games in two days, and that could mean a recall for Kane Wilson, who hasn't been in the match-day squad for the last two matches. Wilson joined last summer but is still yet to start a Championship game for City, and that isn't expected to change tonight because George Tanner is a firm choice at that position.
For the first time in four matches, Mark Sykes is available for selection after serving a ban. Will the Republic of Ireland international start straight away or will he be eased back in?
Here’s what we think Pearson might pick as his starting XI on Tuesday night

1. GK: Max O’Leary

2. RB: George Tanner
Tanner is unlikely to lose his place before the season is over. The return of Sykes does allow different options but the back line is becoming settled. | Getty Images Photo: Naomi Baker/Getty Images

3. CB: Zak Vyner
A contender for the Player of the Season, Vyner is still one of the only recognised centre-backs available until Tomas Kalas returns. | Getty Images Photo: Nathan Stirk/Getty Images

4. CB: Cameron Pring
Pring’s done alright as a centre-back in a back four. He’ll want to return to left-back sooner rather than later but it’s a good learning experience. | Getty Images Photo: Catherine Ivill/Getty Images
