The Robins will go in search of a first win of 2024 against Preston

Bristol City will be hoping to follow up their impressive display against Premier League outfit West Ham with three points as they travel to face Preston North End on Saturday.

Tommy Conway was on target for the Robins against the Hammers as Liam Manning’s side earned a well-deserved replay in the FA Cup third round.

But this weekend City’s focus is back on the Championship, as they look to avenge their late defeat to Millwall on New Year’s Day.  

Positive news for the Robins is that defensive pair Ross McCrorie and Haydon Roberts are on their way back, although Manning hinted that City’s trip to Deepdale may come too soon for the pair.

City are also expected to be without club captain Andi Weimann, as the Austrian reportedly edges closer to a move to West Brom, while Mark Sykes and Kal Naismith are still out.

The Robins will be confident going into the game after their draw at the London Stadium but will face a tricky task against the Lilywhites.

Following a positive start to their campaign, Ryan Lowe’s side have been going through a tough spell of late, which suggests they will be in search of a response.

Despite their three-match winless run, Lowe’s side have defeated Premier League hopefuls Leeds United this season, as well as taking points off Southampton at home.

Preston saw off City 2-0 at Ashton Gate on the opening day of the season, and City will be eager to record a more positive result this time around.
