Bristol City stretched their unbeaten run to seven games as they beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0 at Ashton Gate to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Man-of-the-moment Sam Bell scored his second senior goal for the Robins in the 12th minute and then Alex Scott followed it up with his first effort of the season, scoring just before the half-hour mark. Bell scored his and Bristol City’s third in another sublime performance from the youngster.
It's the first time in Nigel Pearson's reign that they have reached this stage, and enter Monday's draw alongside the likes of Leeds United, Leicester City and Manchester City.
Bell, started his first match of the season, in the place of Antoine Semenyo, whose move to Bournemouth was completed on Friday and repaid the faith paid to his manager with a goal. Scott's corner was not cleared by the Baggies defence, and the unmarked Bell was on hand to curl a rasping shot past David Button.
West Brom's defence was at sixes and sevens and regularly gave the ball away and Scott was on hand to punish them with a well-taken finish. Kal Naismith intercepted a loose ball to feed in Wells, and he found Mark Sykes down the flank, who then drilled a low cross in for Scott to slide the ball home.
Carlos Corberan’s half-time words of encouragement did not pay off as three minutes into the second-half, Bell scored his second of the match. George Tanner broke down the right-hand side and played an inch-perfect pass to Bell to squeeze his shot past Button.
Bristol City came through the remainder of the match unscathed with Max O’Leary’s save from Brandon Thomas-Asante the only shot of note in the second period.
