Bristol City's three-game winning streak was halted as they were held to a 0-0 draw with Championship strugglers Birmingham City at St Andrew's on Friday night.
Anis Mehmeti twice went close to heading the visitors into the lead in the first half, but the Albanian's efforts evaded the target.
The Robins dominated possession throughout the match and almost broke the deadlock after the break through Andi Weimann, but couldn't break a stubborn Blues defence down.
The result sees the Robins remain in eighth place, three points off Hull City in sixth position.
After an even start to the match, the visitors soon began to gain control of proceedings and could’ve taken an early lead.
Jason Knight found Nahki Wells in the area who twisted and turned onto his left foot, Wells’ shot was mis-hit and fell to the head of Mehmeti with the goal gaping, but the Albanian couldn’t direct his effort on target.
City continued to control the possession and crafted another chance for Mehmeti soon after.
Mark Sykes manoeuvred the ball onto his left foot and sent a cross towards the back post, Mehmeti got in front of Emanuel Aiwu but could only direct over the crossbar.
The Robins continued to dominate until the break but failed to create any openings against a resolute Blues defence.
Tommy Conway and Weimann were introduced for the Robins as they continued their search for an opening goal, but Liam Manning's side struggled to conjure up clear chances.
With 10 minutes to play, Knight picked out Weimann's run into the area but the Austrian's attempt at goal bounced wide of the post.
Ivan Sunjic almost stole the points when his 25-yard effort flashed wide late on, but the match ended goalless.
