Bristol City record their largest win of pre-season yet as they thrash League Two opposition at the HPC.

Bristol City continued their unbeaten 2023-24 pre-season campaign with a convincing 8-0 win against Newport County at the High Performance Centre.

Nahki Wells scored twice in either half, and played a role in supplying Sam Bell for the opener, whilst Alex Scott got a brace and Zak Vyner was also on target.

Harvey Wiles-Richards - 7

Didn’t have much to do to be fair but when called upon he did what was required of him.

Harry Leeson - 7

Most of City’s attacks came down their left flank, but Leeson did have a few positive moments.

Zak Vyner - 8

At the right place at the right ime for his goal. He did well in his role of mentoring Araoye.

Raphael Araoye - 7

Made an impression. He wasn’t afraid to make a header when long balls came from over the top, despite the conditions.

Cameron Pring - 7

Playing against his former club, Pring enjoyed himself down the left-flank. He got Bell down the flank a few times, and helped Araoye.

Joe Williams - 7

Williams playing as a holding midfielder had a good few moments. He commanded the midfield well and made it difficult for County in the centre of the park.

Andy King - 7

Controlled the midfield well, and got an assist for Vyner’s goal.

Alex Scott - 9

Showed his class by getting involved in Vyner’s goal. He had a few impressive dribbles, showing us his usual game. Got an assist for City’s fifth, earned a penalty, and then got two goals. He had a real authority on the game.

Harry Cornick - 7

The other attackers took the plaudits in this match, but it would have been nice to have Cornick involved a bit more to build up his confidence.

Sam Bell - 9

Full of confidence. He’s really improved on his decision making, and showed that when he timed his run well for his goal.

Nahki Wells - 10

Man on a mission and exceptionally lively. Conditions may have played a part but his ball to Bell was lovely. He took one of his goals well by punishing a mistake.
