Bristol City started the new 2022/23 Championship season with a defeat away at Hull City.

The Robins will be hoping to bounce back from that disappointing loss against the Tigers this weekend as they welcome newly promoted Sunderland to Ashton Gate.

Stance on winger revealed

Bristol City are not interested in Sporting Lisbon winger Jovane Cabral.

They have been linked with a surprise swoop for the Cape Verde international this week after his loan stint at Lazio last term.

However, BristolWorld understands he is not on Nigel Pearson’s radar.

Defender boost

Tomas Kalas is in contention to play on Saturday against the Black Cats.

The defender hasn’t played since March as he recovers from a groin injury. He has taken part in a full training session today as he steps up his recovery.

The former Chelsea man appears to be ‘closing’ in on his return to the pitch, as per Bristol Live, which would be a big boost.

Zak Vyner played as part of a back three against Hull alongside new signing Kal Naismith and Rob Atkinson.

New boy training

New signing Stefan Bajic has apparently started training with his new teammates.

Bristol City signed the young goalkeeper earlier in this transfer window from French club Pau to add more depth to their goalkeeping department.

Bristol Live report he has been feeling the ‘after-effects of wrist surgery’ from earlier this summer, hence why he has only just started partaking in training.
