Bristol City pair Kal Naismith and Nahki Wells have been named in the WhoScored Championship team of the week for their part in the Robins’ 3-2 away win at Blackburn Rovers.

Wells scored a second-half brace for City after strike partner Tommy Conway had opened the scoring in the first period.

The 32-year-old netted his third and fourth goals of the campaign with his second strike of the afternoon at Ewood Park, eclipsing his goals tally for the whole of the 2021/22 season.

After netting against Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup, Wells has been afforded plenty of opportunities after working his way into the side.

The Bermuda international striker found playing opportunities hard to come by last season after the form of Chris Martin, Antoine Semenyo and Andi Weimann, but this season the attack has changed.

Weimann remains an influential figure and set up two goals but it is Conway and Wells who are preferred at the minute.

His performance against Blackburn on Saturday saw hm return a performance score of 9.3, the highest of any player that weekend.

Semenyo remains a part of the team and is stepping up his recovery from a shin injury by half hour cameos from the substitutes bench.

Wells wasn’t the only inclusion in the Team of the Week which is based on metrics. Despite shipping two goals, Naismith came out with the second-highest defensive score of the weekend at 7.7.

Naismith, who signed on a three-year deal on a free transfer from Luton Town, has grown into his role in the three-man central defence alongside Rob Atkinson and Zak Vyner.
