Bristol City gave fans a Monday evening treat when they unveiled their new goalkeeper shirts for the 2022/23 season.

Shirts were made available to buy online last night and now supporters can go to the club shop to buy the shirt as they prepare for another season of following the Robins and the Vixens in the EFL Championship and FA Women’s Championship respectively.

Men’s goalkeepers Daniel Bentley and his understudy Max O’Leary, as well as Women’s goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse were pictured in them yesterday in a trendy social media reveal video.

The first kit to be seen is a predominantly black kit with a similar colour scheme to the shirt shown last season with a mix of neon colours, including yellow, red and blue.

There will be no repeat of the historic purple and lime kit worn at Anfield when City toppled giants Liverpool as the alternative goalkeeper shirt is purple with the same lines as the alternative kit.

City had replicated their iconic purple kit both in 2014 and 2020 but this move highlights a different colour palette for the away shirt for the outfield players.

Another notable change noted by supporters is that the badge has moved from the central part of the chest to the left-hand side towards the heart.

It is the first kit to be seen by the public that has City’s new sponsor Huboo, which replaced MansionBet.

As the sponsor is a non-betting company, young supporters will be able to get the replica kit in its entirety and the academy and youth teams will be able to wear the shirt like the senior men and women’s teams also.

Huboo said: “Signalling the start of our principal partnership with Bristol City. Proud to be on the front. We can’t wait to see these in action.

“We’re excited and proud to be supporting Bristol City on and off the pitch. Together, we want to make Bristol proud.”

The Kitsman, which is a Twitter page that specialises in reviewing kits, were praiseful of Hummel’s effort. ‘Bristol City and Hummel DO goalkeeper kits. They are the leaders. THey are the benchmark. The future of keeper kits is in SAFE HANDS.’

Zach Hampshire, a fan of Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers but the founder of the blog ‘View From The Kit Room’ added: “Bristol City again with some stunning keeper shirts.

Luke Rundle, a supporter on Twitter responded with: “Instantly purchased the black one and yet I still can’t stop watching the video.

Joshua Birch, a Leeds United fan said: “Bristol City never fail with their goalkeeper shirts.”

Over on Facebook, there was a slight feeling of disappointment from John Roberts, who commented: “Looks good but a little gutted as I’m guessing no purple and lime away kit this coming season.

Peter Neate added: “Another pair of quality keepers kits from Hummel. Well done.

And optimistic for the season ahead, Alex Powell rounded it off by saying: “Beautiful kits, let’s see if we can do them justice this year.”
