The Robins will be eager to get their first win of the season in front of their own fans at Ashton Gate.

New deal for midfielder

Bristol City have tied up a new contract deal for Australian-born midfielder Marlee Francois.

The youngster, who is 19-years-old, has penned a two-year contract extension with the option for a further 12 months on top of that.

He has told the official club website: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal at the club and I’m more determined than ever to kick on as it’s clear there is a successful player pathway here at Bristol City.

“I’m grateful to the club for showing their faith in me by offering a new deal and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and show my worth.

“It’s been a difficult period for me with injury and spending time on the sideline but I’m hungry to get back to full fitness, play consistently well within the academy with the goal of making the jump into the first team squad.”

Tickets selling well

Tickets are selling well for the first home game of the 2022/23 campaign.

Despite losing last time out, there is a sense of excitement surrounding the club at the moment and over 24,000 seats have been sold for the clash against the Blacks according to the club website.

The game kicks off at the usual 3pm.

Sunderland man could make debut

Sunderland could hand a debut to Ellis Simms against Bristol City.

The North East club have signed the striker from Everton on loan after he scored 10 goals in 24 games with Hearts last term.

As per the Sunderland Echo, the forward is in contention to play on Saturday.
