Bristol City ‘make contact’ with defender ahead of potential free transfer

Bristol City are eager to delve into the free transfer market this summer.

Bristol City have made contact with Forest Green Rovers defender Kane Wilson, according to BristolLive.

The Robins are looking to bolster their backline this summer and with the 22-year-old out of contract in the coming weeks, he could be the perfect fit.

Wilson is yet to agree fresh terms with Rovers and looks set to leave the club on a free, with a number of clubs lurking.

Wilson has had an impressive season in Forest Green’s promotion-winning campaign, making 45 league appearances and providing a whopping 13 assists.

The wing-back’s form has seen Bristol City joined by Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest in their pursuit.

While it is unclear which side could win the race for the West Brom academy graduate, the Robins are one step ahead of their rivals as they look to negotiate a deal for the player before he has even become a free agent.

Nigel Pearson’s side will be eager to snap up the talented defender on a free given their financial situation and, given the quality of the player, it could prove to be a real coup for the Championship club.
