Bristol City loan star earns Everton move as goalkeeper earns England call-up

Former Bristol City loanee Aggie Beever-Jones has joined Everton on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Beever-Jones had a successful loan spell with the Vixens last season, having her first taste of regular competitive football.

After two competitive appearances with the London club, the 19-year-old had an opportunity under Lauren Smith and was a key figure in the side.

She made 26 appearances in total last year, scoring six goals, including at Ashton Gate in front of a record crowd against Liverpool back in April.

Others included wins over Durham, London City Lionesses and again at Ashton Gate against Blackburn Rovers.

Her performances in the red of Bristol City has earned her an opportunity to play in Women’s football’s top league, the Women’s Super League for historic club Everton.

“I’m over the moon to be here,” she said to Everton’s official club website.

“My development is going to be great, and I think the manager has come in with the right mindset and he’s putting that into the team early.

“I’ve come here and I’m going to be like a sponge and absorb all the information that I can, the positives, the negatives, and see what I can work on.”

Before making the move to Merseyside, Beever-Jones penned a new three-year deal with Chelsea, which shows their commitment to the England Under-19 international.

Another former City player is also in the headlines after Ebony Salmon was called up to the England national team for their World Cup qualifiers.

Salmon, who was at City for two seasons, featuring in two WSL campaigns, has earned a recall to Sarina Wiegman’s squad.

The 21-year-old has been in the United States for the past season-and-a-half, joining Racing Louisville, where she scored six goals in 25 games before making the move to Houston Dash earlier this summer, the young forward has netted eight goals in eight games so far.

As well as former players, current first choice goalkeeper Fran Bentley, who was signed from Manchester United, has also been called up for international duty.

The 21-year-old has been named in Mo Marley’s Under-23’s squad, along with former vixens Poppy Pattinson, Kiera Skeels, Molly Pike and Katie Robinson, as well as the aforementioned Beever-Jones.

England, who won the EURO’s this summer, travel to Austria on Saturday, September 3, before hosting Luxembourg three days later at Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium.

The Under 23’s team however play on Friday, September 2 and play them at the Mellos Stadion in Moss.

Elsewhere, Abi Harrison - the club’s all-time record goal scorer - has been called up to the Scotland squad for their friendly with Netherlands and qualifier with the Faroe Islands. City duo Ffion Morgan and Olivia Clark have been named in Gemma Grainger’s 26-person squad for Wales’ qualifiers against Greece and Slovenia.

Before players break away for the international break, City play their Blackburn Rovers at the High Performance Centre in their second game of their FA Women’s Championship campaign, following their opening day victory over Coventry United.
