Bristol City Women are continuing to build their squad ahead of the start of the FA Women’s Super League

Bristol City have been linked with a move for Dutch forward Amalie Thestrup, according to reports on social media.

BBC Sport journalist Emma Sanders posted on Thursday morning: “Morning. Some WSL transfer chat... I’m told Bristol City could sign Danish striker Amalie Thestrup, who spent six months on loan at West Ham last season.”

Thestrup was on loan to the Hammers from Dutch side PSV for six months, and in her time with the London club, she played 12 times but didn’t register a goal. The 28-year-old is a four time Denmark international and is a two-time winner of the Swedish league with Brondby IF.

She was at Liverpool for a season and got four goals in 17 games in the FA Women’s Championship. It was at Baller-up Skovlunde in Denmark that she was the most prolific with 32 goals in 48 games, and from there she was picked up by Roma.

Earlier this week, Bristol City signed Kaylan Marckese on a season-long loan from Arsenal. The US-born shot-stopper has Champions League experience with HB Koge, and comes in after Olivia Clark was loaned out to FA Women's Championship outfit Watford.

“I’m excited to get started and to play at Ashton Gate and experience the fans,” said Marckese to Robins TV after her move was confirmed. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and the community, especially because there is such a buzz around promotion back to the Women’s Super League.

“I can’t wait to get going with the girls and see what we can achieve together.”

Bristol City's season begins on Sunday, October 1 against Leicester City at Ashton Gate. The Women’s season has been delayed because of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is taking place in Australia and New Zealand. Chloe Mustaki was called up for the Republic of Ireland and named in their squad, and featured in two of their matches but they were eliminated in the group stages.
