Bristol City were one of six Championship clubs not to spend a penny in the summer transfer window.
As revealed in a report by The Athletic, the Robins only dealt in free transfers and loans as they looked to bolster their ranks.

It has been a quiet past few months on the transfer front for Nigel Pearson’s side and they didn’t rush into any business.
Right-back Kane Wilson and midfielder Mark Sykes were snapped up from Forest Green Rovers and Oxford United respectively and have both adapted well to the step up to the second tier so far.
Versatile Kal Naismith arrived after his contract at Luton Town expired, whilst young goalkeeper Stefan Bajic joined from Pau FC in France to make it just four arrivals at Ashton Gate.

Decent start for Bristol City
The Athletic added in their report that Bristol City continue to pay ‘above-average wages’ to their players but have to comply with stricter Financial Fair Play rules these days.
It has still been a decent start for Nigel Pearson’s side and this proves that teams don’t need to spend big money to be competitive at this level anymore. Luton Town and Huddersfield Town made the play-offs in the last campaign on tight budgets.
The Robins have a nice blend of experience with the likes Andreas Weimann, Matty James and Dan Bentley and youth with Alex Scott, Tommy Conway and Antoine Semenyo which will take them a long way this term.

They are currently 4th in the table and three points behind leaders Sheffield United after eight games.
Having a settled starting XI, being organised and well-drilled takes you a long way in the Championship and despite not spending anything, Bristol City are in confident mood due to being unbeaten in their last six outings.
