Bristol City complete transfer deal and Celtic make striker decision

All the latest Bristol City and Championship news and transfer rumours as clubs begin their preparations for next season.

Bristol City’s stars will now have their feet up, resting after a difficult campaign.

The Robins had to settle for a bottom half finish this season - their only from the last four campaigns.

And on the back of that disappointment, Nigel Pearson will be desperate to take his team back towards the top half to put a difficult start to life at Ashton Gate behind him.

For now, the City stars - or at least those who are not on international duty - will be away on their holidays.

But we are already just weeks away from pre-season, and in the meantime, Pearson will, no doubt, be working on strengthening his squad with new faces, already adding two new men.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news from Ashton Gate and beyond.

Semenyo interest

Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are said to be eyeing a move for Bristol City star Antoine Semenyo.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the Hoops have been monitoring the £20million City striker for some time.

“I think he’s someone that Celtic have been watching for quite a long time,” he told GiveMeSport.

“There was talk of a possible move last summer, and also during the January transfer window, and I’m sure Celtic have continued to monitor his situation.

“He’s got potential, Semenyo.”

Deal done

City have announced the signing of Luton Town star Kal Naismith.

The Robins have snapped up the standout defender on a free transfer ahead of his deal with the Hatters coming to an end next month.

Naismith is a left-back or a wing-back and was Luton’s Player of the Year this season as Nathan Jones’ men reached the playoffs.

Johnston exit links

West Brom face losing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone this summer.

According to BirminghamWorld, Crystal Palace are eyeing a deal for the Baggies stopper, with Patrick Vieria hoping to improve competition between the sticks.

It has been expected the 29-year-old will return to the Premier League, and he could get his opportunity this summer.

Blackburn boss search

A little managerial transfer news.

Blackburn Rovers are searching for a new manager this summer after Tony Mowbray moved on from Ewood Park.

And Football Insider are reporting that Rovers have turned to Everton coach Duncan Ferguson to fill the void.

It’s reported an interview has already taken place and that talks are at an advanced stage.
