And on the back of that disappointment, Nigel Pearson will be desperate to take his team back towards the top half to put a difficult start to life at Ashton Gate behind him.

For now, the City stars - or at least those who are not on international duty - will be away on their holidays.

But we are already just weeks away from pre-season, and in the meantime, Pearson will, no doubt, be working on strengthening his squad with new faces, already adding two new men.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news from Ashton Gate and beyond.

Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are said to be eyeing a move for Bristol City star Antoine Semenyo.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the Hoops have been monitoring the £20million City striker for some time.

“I think he’s someone that Celtic have been watching for quite a long time,” he told GiveMeSport.

“There was talk of a possible move last summer, and also during the January transfer window, and I’m sure Celtic have continued to monitor his situation.

“He’s got potential, Semenyo.”
