Bournemouth are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ over a £25million deal for Bristol City star Alex Scott.

The midfielder’s future has been the subject of intense speculation over the last 12 months after he forced his way into the Robins side and continued to shine throughout the Championship season.

Scott has attracted attention from the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United and Liverpool in recent months - but it was Wolverhampton Wanderers that looked to be leading the race for his services as Julen Lopetegui looked to make a decisive breakthrough in the transfer window. There were suggestions Wolves had been unsuccessful with two separate offers for Scott over the last fortnight - but it now looks as if a Premier League rivals has stolen a march in the race to sign the youngster.

As interest in Scott intensified earlier this week, Robins boss Nigel Pearson set out his demands for his prize asset.

He said: “I don’t know how many bids there have been, as far as I’m concerned we’ve made our stance quite clear as a football club and that is for somebody to gain the opportunity to talk to him we’re talking about £25 million.

“We don’t want to sell him, that’s why we’re pricing him the way that we are, and actually having seen him since the start of pre-season we should be asking £30 million for him, never mind £25 million.

“The bottom line is we as a club have said ‘he’s going to cost £25 million as a starting point’ and if something happens where he goes for less than that then I won’t be very happy, I can tell you that now.”

However, The Telegraph have now reported Bournemouth are closing in on a deal for Scott as the Cherries look to make the Robins star their sixth signing of the summer.
