Blackburn Rovers sweating over two deals

Blackburn Rovers are awaiting to see whether they signed Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien and Rochdale prospect Ethan Brierley before the 11pm deadline on Wednesday. As per a report by the Lancashire Telegraph, a decision by the EFL is expected today.

O’Brien, who made the move to the City Ground last summer from Huddersfield Town, would join Rovers on loan if that deal is given the green light. Bristol City have played the Lancashire side twice already this season.

Wigan Athletic striker open exit

Wigan Athletic striker Stephen Humphrys is open to a permanent switch to Hearts. He is currently on loan with the Scottish Premiership side until the summer.

The former Rochdale man has told the Edinburgh Evening News: “I spoke to the manager here. He asked me if I want to stay here and I said: ‘Yeah, I really love it here. I love the fans and my team-mates so why not stay? I’ve literally moved everything up here to be here. My girlfriend is up here, my dog is up here. I don’t see the point in getting halfway through and then throwing all that away.

“I love it here so we will have to see what happens in the summer I suppose. I have got another 18 months left on my contract from now so it’s not really in my hands.”

Middlesbrough cut ties with midfielder

Middlesbrough have parted company with Caolan Boyd-Munce. The midfielder’s contract at the Riverside Stadium has been mutually terminated.

He joined Boro back in Janaury 2020 from Birmingham City but has struggled for game time. He is now a free agent and will be weighing up his next move.
