Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray says he aims to make the crowd feel anxious ahead of their visit to Ashton Gate tomorrow.

Five defeats in their last six matches has seen Bristol City slump to 18th in the table with improvement needed.

Experienced Championship veteran Tony Mowbray has come up 16 times against the Robins so is well suited when encountering City.

Nigel Pearson’s side have won just once at home since January and that is something that the opposition boss is looking to exploit.

“We have to go down there and make the crowd a little bit anxious,” said the Blackburn manager to Rovers TV.

“I’d like to go to Ashton Gate and be positive and really aggressive to get the right result.

“There won’t be much in the game, it will be a tight game I’d imagine, and hopefully we can come out on top.”

The 57-year-old was quite complimentary when it came to talking about the opposition and put praise on both the players and the home crowd.

Callum O’Dowda and Tomas Kalas, both of whom were on international duty were earmarked as two of four players who could cause problems.

Top scorer Andreas Weimann, who has seven goals in 17 appearances was another as well as Chris Martin, who this week was confirmed statistically as the best player in the squad.

“I think Bristol City are a team that can beat anyone on their day,” he said

“Their home form has not been what they would have liked but they do have good players, lads like Andi Weimann, Callum O’Dowda, Chris Martin, Tomas Kalas.

“Experience tells us that if you go to Bristol and the crowd are behind their team, it makes it a really difficult game.”

Mowbray’s side are seven points clear of Bristol City this season and are chasing a play-off spot. They are outside of the top six on the virtue of goal difference but could shoot up as high as fifth with a victory tomorrow.
