The Robins missed a brilliant chance to extend their lead through Harry Cornick late in the first period and were also denied a penalty kick when Conway went down under Cameron Humphreys’ challenge before the half ended.
Pearson’s side had to be more patient in terms of chances in the second half, but with half an hour played Conway came close to netting his and City’s second when Cornick reacted well to get the ball back to him, but Johannson saved once more.

Hide AdCity were made to rue their missed chances when the visitors were awarded a spot kick in the 66th minute. Zak Vyner failed to clear effectively, and as Jordan Hugill went down under Vyner’s challenge, Taylor’s side were given a spot kick. Hugill stepped up and made no mistake to send Max O’Leary the wrong way.
Moments later, a frustrated Pearson was awarded a yellow card by the match official for his complaints about the decision to award a penalty. Rotherham had gone on the front foot after Hugill’s leveller and O’Leary had to make a good save to deny substitute Georgie Kelly who nearly punished Joe Williams’ error.
It would be City that would take home maximum points however, as in a crowded penalty box, Weimann was on hand to score from close-range as Rotherham failed to clear their lines.
