Charlton Athletic and Wrexham are not expected to sign Bristol Rovers star Aaron Collins, according to a report from social media.

Pete O’Rourke, a transfer correspondent for Football Insider has provided the latest on the Collins saga. He says that neither Charlton nor Wrexham are ‘not in the running’ and that it will be a move to Bolton or nowhere this month.

That is a contrasting report to the South London Press who reported that a bid had been rejected for Collins last week. A bid in the excess of £500,000 was rejected and it ‘remains to be seen’ whether the managerless Addicks will consider making another approach.

The Bristol Post report that Bolton have had a £600,000 bid offer rejected. No club have made a fresh bid but they did not shut the door on Wrexham making an approach.

He was left out of the match-day squad in the 2-1 win against Oxford United on Saturday. Manager Matt Taylor left himself out of the situation and it will be a decision that be taken by those above him.

"I honestly don’t know," Taylor responded when he was asked if Collins had played his last game for the football club.

The 26-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2025. Despite a quieter season than last, he has still notched up 14 goal contributions in all competitions this term. He has nine assists and three goals in League One but has not provided a goal contribution since the win against Charlton just after Christmas.

"That’s going to be down to the hierarchies of the two clubs,” Taylor added.

"He’s got 18 months left on his contract so we’re in a strong position. There’s obviously a market there for him so those discussions will continue and we’ll see where it takes us.

"In terms of what I’m aware of. There was initial interest from another club but it seems to be one other. But that might change in the next few days as well."

"I’ve sat here enough times before the final few days of the window and you can never be surprised by who comes in and what stage. We’re certainly in control of that."
