People living in two large postcode areas in south Bristol may not be receiving their mail deliveries from the Royal Mail this week - that’s because the areas are among 28 in the country where there have been delays reported today.

The BS4 postcode area, which includes Brislington and Knowle, and the BS14 postcode area, which includes Stockwood and Whitchurch, are included in the list of impacted postcodes published by Royal Mail today (April 21).

It said that due to ‘high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors’ deliveries had been impacted and said deliveries could be ‘rotated’ to minimise delays for individual customers.

It added: “We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding”

Outside of Bristol, BS21 for Clevedon, BS20 for Portishead, BS49 for Yatton and BS22, BS23 and BS24 for Weston-super-Mare were all impacted.

The list has been published on the day Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union finally reached an agreement after almost a year of talks in a pay dispute. The provisional dealfollows a series of walkouts which took place last year.

CWU general secretary Dave Ward has said that the postal executive will consider the proposal early next week on Monday and Tuesday. Depending on the executive’s decision, it should then be passed on to the union’s members, who will then cast their votes.
