One of Bristol’s biggest cocktail bars has closed its doors suddenly ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

The doors of The Florist on Park Street have been locked this week, the menus removed from outside and post is starting to pile up inside the front entrance. On Google, it says the venue is ‘permanently closed’.

The three-storey cocktail bar and restaurant is owned by New World Trading Company (NWTC), which also runs The Botanist chain of bars.

Opened in February 2018, the Bristol branch of The Florist is located in the former Goldbrick House site.

With its healthy, Mediterranean-inspired food, botanical-themed interiors and extensive range of cocktails, The Florist was a popular venue.

Bristolian artists Gemma Compton and Jody Thomas designed bespoke pieces of artwork for walls of the bar, and the venue hosted regular events including influencer evenings.

Its decorative flower walls and neon signs were especially popular with Instagrammers. The Watford and Liverpool branches of The Florist are currently still open.

Bristol World has contacted NWTC for a comment about the closure.
