Another batch of food hygiene ratings has been dished out for the first week of April with 18 restaurants and takeaways receiving scores.

The Food Standards Agency published the results after each diner underwent inspection during March. Bristol City Council carries out the inspections and then sends the scores to the Food Standards Agency to publish. The ratings cover the handling of food, how the food is stored, how it is prepared, the cleanliness of the facilities and how food safety is managed. The score does not necessarily reflect the quality of the food served by the diners.

A star rating system ranks the best restaurants at five stars, working its way down to the worst rating available, zero stars. Five stars mean ‘very good’, four-star is ‘good’, three-star is ‘generally satisfactory’, two stars is ‘improvement necessary’, one star is ‘major improvement necessary’ and zero tar is ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

Out of the 18 ratings published today, 15 scored five stars while one kitchen scored one star. Here are the results:
