A computer gaming course, designed to help train the next generation of online gaming athletes, is taking place in Bristol.

The Bristol Robins Foundation, part of Bristol City Football Club is to offer the two-year BTEC diploma in partnership with BELONG gaming arenas.

Students that enrol in the two-year course will learn how to set up their own brand and merchandise as well as receiving regular esports coaching.

The course will also offer students the chance to compete on a weekly basis in a variety of different British esports competitions.

The British esports association describes esports as ‘competitive video gaming’, human against human with a spectator element to it.

Tournaments usually consist of amateur or professional gamers competing against one another for a cash prize.

Perhaps the biggest esport platform in England is FIFA.

The popular football game has a multitude of different sections, such as ultimate team, career mode, and pro clubs to name a few.

The esport side to FIFA started to sky rocket back in 2011/2012, when now mega-stars such as KSI and Wroetoshaw created Youtube accounts dedicated to playing FIFA.

Donovan Hunt, better to known to his fans as ‘F2Tekkz’ or ‘DHTekkz’ made a staggering $376,625 in his early career, according to OnlineGambling.com. This was from him winning money as he won most FIFA competitions.

To further boost the game, and give more credibility to esports, the e-Premier League was set up in 2019, where each club in the Premier League has a representative for the club battling it out to become the e-Premier League winner.

Tekkz won the first competition in 2019.
