Maya Jama has reportedly been sent a legal letter demanding that she returns the £800,000 engagement ring that her ex-fiance, Ben Simmons gave her last year.

The Love Island host, 28, from Bristol, was in a long-distance relationship with Australian basketball player Ben Simmons, who is based in the U.S, after a whirlwind romance and the pair got engaged in December 2021, at his lavish mansion in New Jersey.

Photos of the impressive sparkler started making its appearance during red-carpet events, TV commitments and Instagram posts. However, after some silence and speculation, Maya finally revealed, during an interview recently, that she’s single.

Despite splitting months ago, Maya is still in possession of the £800,000 sparkler and Ben Simmons has now reportedly demanded that the expensive bling be returned in a letter sent to the host.

A source told The Sun: “Given Ben has never, until now, asked for the ring back, you can appreciate the letter came somewhat as a surprise to Maya.”

They continued: “Ben was really shocked when she left and didn’t give him the ring back.”

“He was madly in love with her and thought it was forever so was really p***ed she didn’t give it back. It cost around $1million and they were engaged for less than a year.”

According to the MailOnline: “Maya received a request from Ben’s representatives on Friday afternoon, asking her to return the engagement ring that he gave her as a gift last year.”

The source continued: “This was the first time that she has been asked by Ben to return it and, for the avoidance of any doubt, she has never refused to return it. Maya is making arrangements to return the ring to Ben and wishes him all the best.”

Ben, who plays basketball for the Brooklyn Nets, began a relationship with the host who travelled back and forth to America in order to spend time with him.

The former couple were first romantically linked in June 2021, after they were spotted on a night out together at the restaurant, Sexy Fish, in Mayfair, London.

They went public with their relationship the following month, when they were seen kissing in the stands at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, in front of the world’s media at the event.

Ben previously dated model Kendall Jenner, 26, but they called it quits in May 2019, after months of dating on-and-off.

Maya’s previous relationship was also highly publicised as she dated rapper Stormzy, 29, for four years, until they announced their split in August 2019.
