Bristol City are all but certain to keep hold of their most prized asset with Alex Scott remaining at the club amidst speculation of a move in the January transfer window.

The Robins lost Antoine Semenyo to Bournemouth last week for a fee that is just below £10m, but has add-ons, which are likely to be based on Premier League survival, as well as how many goals he scores. The 22-year-old was regarded as one of Bristol City's best players, but there was an acceptance that with his contract up in the summer of 2024, that a move away from Ashton Gate was likely.

Earlier in the month it looked like it could have been a double-whammy with talented teenager Scott linked with a move away from the West Country. The 19-year-old is no longer the best kept secret at the club, with Sky Sports regarding him as the best young player across the English Football League. Scott had a brilliant breakthrough season last year, and has almost matched what he did last year.

The list of suitors and potential destinations has grown for the 'Guernsey Grealish' who will get the chance to play against the England midfielder in the FA Cup at the end of February or early March. Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur have had interest since the summer, but Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also entered the running.

Both Leicester and Wolves are said to hold the strongest interest and it has been reported that both teams asked about what City's valuation is of the player. It was reported by the Telegraph that Scott is valued at around £20-25m, though that is a complete deal and it could include several add-ons. Neither club have acted on their initial interest, and for at least until the summer, Scott will continue to play for the club that gave him his opportunity in professional football.

Scott was on target in City's 3-0 win over West Brom in the FA Cup last Saturday, netting his first goal of the season, after going more than half the campaign without hitting the back of the net. Nigel Pearson joked that it was about time that he had scored, whilst fans of Tottenham witnessed a highlights reel of Scott's performance, in which he can be seen nut-megging a Baggies player, and comfortably dribbling past two players.

In a perhaps tongue-in-cheek tweet, technical director Brian Tinnion tweeted that Scott is now valued at £40m, which is perhaps ambitious, but an indication of how highly-rated he is by those who work with him closely. Tinnion has played a huge part in Scott’s development whilst Sam Bell has recentlly come in to form and Tommy Conway is one of Bristol City’s leadng players this season. He is under contract until the summer of 2025, and owner Steve Lansdown, revealed to BBC Radio Guernsey that Scott had been offered a new deal.
