When is the Bristol Mayor Referendum 2022?


Local council elections are set to take place across the UK at the beginning of May.
However, Bristol City Council will not be holding an election in 2022.

There will be a decision between carrying on with the mayoral system currently in place in Bristol, or moving to a committee model of governance.
Like the other elections taking place across the country, the Bristol Mayor Referendum will take place on Thursday, 5 May.
Polls are open from 7 am to 10 pm.

If you are voting in-person at a polling station on polling day, here is everything you need to know.
Polling stations are always open from 7 am to 10 pm - but you can not choose which one to visit.
This is because you are usually assigned one on the poll card that you should have already received by now.
When you arrive at the polling station, you will need to tell an official your name and address so they can check you are on the electoral register.

Hide AdYou can show your poll card at the polling station, but you do not need to bring it with you to cast your vote.
After crossing your name off the electoral list, you will be handed a ballot paper and make your way to a private polling booth where you will issue your ballot.
Take your time to read everything properly before marking next to the decision that you want to vote in favour of.
When you have finished, fold the ballot and post it into a ballot box, which will be taken away to be counted later in the day.
And that’s it. You have officially voted during the Bristol Mayor Referendum 2022.
