The awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises consisting of localised businesses and sole traders.

Winners are selected based on criteria such as marketing and branding strategies, business growth methods, customer experiences, and an openness to new ideas.

The Grand Pier, owned by brother and sister Kerry and Michelle Michael, emerged as the 'standout choice, showing an evident commitment to excellence in its operations'.

Awards judge Andrew White, said: "We are pleased to highlight The Grand Pier as Family Amusement Centre of the Year in our Prestige Awards.

"We are so pleased to be named the Family Amusement Centre of the Year by the Southwest Prestige Awards."

The Grand Pier opened in 1904 but was badly damaged by fire in 1930 and took three years to rebuild.

In July 2008 it was again destroyed by fire, only to reopen in 2010.
