UK Weather: This is when experts predict tail end of Storm Barra will be at its worst in Bristol

Storm Barra will be at its worst in Bristol between 9.00am and 6.00pm on Wednesday, according to some weather experts.

Gusts in excess of 45mph are expected throughout most of Wednesday however conditions will begin to calm from 6.00pm onward.

The Met Office has issued a yellow status weather warning for Bristol and other parts of south-west England and Wales.

The weather warning is valid between 12:00am and 6.00pm on Wednesday.

“Strong westerly winds slowly moderating through Wednesday,” reads the warning on the Met Office website.

“Wind gusts of 45-50 mph expected widely across the region, with a potential of 55-65 mph for exposed coastal locations.

“In addition to strong winds, there is a potential for large waves along windward coasts.”

What to expect:

- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.

- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
