UK Weather: Snow alert for Bristol as New Year’s Eve set to be warmer than Athens and Rome

Weather experts are predicting snowfall in Bristol within the next twos weeks - that is despite temperatures rocketing to as high as 15°C over the coming days.

New Year’s Eve in Bristol will be one of the warmest in living memory with temperatures set to climb as high 15°C - the average high and low temperatures in Bristol for this time of year are 8°C and 3°C respectively.

As party goers in Bristol set about welcoming in 2022 on Thursday the temperature looks set to be approximately 14°C making it much warmer than Barcelona (10°C ), Rome (7°C ) and Athens (9°C ) at this time of year.

However, this warm start to 2022 will not last as, much like the rest of the United Kingdom, Bristol will see feels like temperatures drop to as low as -1°C on Tuesday.

The cooler air will linger on into Wednesday before a return to normality on Thursday when people should expect to see temperatures back up into double figures.

Meanwhile, experts at online weather service WXCharts are forecasting snow for Bristol on Saturday January 15.

The severity of the snowfall remains unclear at this time and as a result of being two weeks away, it is subject to change.

This Evening and Tonight:

Generally cloudy perhaps with outbreaks occasional drizzle quickly pushing eastwards during the evening. The cloud and drizzle clearing eastern areas close to midnight with clear spells following. Winds easing through the evening though increasing again later. Staying mild. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

A new band of cloud and rain will quickly arrive across the southwest before pushing eastwards during the morning. Sunny spells following. Rather windy and mild. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Some heavy rain and gusty winds sweeping east on Sunday, with showers following for Monday.. A band of rain likely to edge south on Tuesday introducing colder conditions.
