Bristol weather: Met Office issue 8-hour yellow warning for thunderstorm - here's what to expect

The Met Office has warned people in Bristol that they should expect heavy showers and thunderstorms from this afternoon (October 7)

They have issued an 8-hour yellow warning which is due to start at 4pm and last until midnight.

It reads that Bristolians should expect “20-30mm of rain within 2 to 3 hours, with a small chance that a few places could receive 40mm.

“Thunderstorms are most likely for south-facing coastal districts, and hail and some strong gusts of wind could accompany the heaviest showers and thunderstorms.”

The Met Office has warned people in Bristol to expect the following

- There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus

- Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible

They forecast light rain from 7pm and heavy rain from 8pm to 9pm.

They predict light rain showers from 10pm to midnight and from 5am.
