Bookmakers have reacted to a major change in the weather forecast by cutting the odds of a white Christmas in Bristol from 8/1 into 17/10 - this means a winning £10 bet with odds at 8/1 would return £90.00 while a winning £10 bet with odds at 17/10 would return £27.

In order for Christmas Day to be officially recognised as a white Christmas in Bristol, snow must fall at Bristol Airport.

The feels like temperature in Bristol is due to drop to as low as -2°C on Wednesday but milder weather will return on Thursday and Friday (Christmas Eve).

In the last 48 hours, experts at online weather service, WXCharts, updated their weather diagram to reveal two batches of snow just to the north of Bristol on Christmas Day.

At present it is unlikely the snowfall will move further south towards Bristol but with the shortening of the white Christmas odds, it would be unwise to completely rule it out as a possibility.

The experts at WXCharts also forecast possible snowfall in Bristol on Monday December 27 and Wednesday December 29.
