We visit the beautiful Bristol park with a maze, outdoor gym and panoramic city views

Created by the Victorians, it is now popular with local families and sports fans

Bristol is lucky to have some fantastic parks for locals to enjoy for free, seven days a week, all year round.

Whether it’s St George Park, Page Park in Staple Hill, Redcatch Park in Knowle or Canford Park in Westbury-on-Trym, there are wonderful parks all over the city.

One of the best, in our view, is Victoria Park near Windmill Hill. Created by the Victorians, when it was first open, it had a bandstand, two drinking fountains and an open air pool.

Those attractions are all gone now but there are still the bowling green and tennis courts added between 1905 and 1918, as well as the park keeper’s lodge.

There are now two football pitches, a maze, children’s playground, basketball court and even an open air gym.

And there are also large areas of untouched grassland with a variety of mature trees, plus incredible city views from the top.

Popular with families and dog walkers, Victoria Park is a must-visit park all year round but especially in autumn as the leaves on the trees start to change colour.

And for conker fans, there are also plenty of horse chestnut trees with conkers already falling to the ground.

Here are 15 photos of Victoria Park.
