We visit the beautiful Bristol nature reserve with badgers, streams and an orchard

Badgers, woodpeckers and even a couple of green parakeets have been seen living in the valley

On the edge of Fishponds and Speedwell, the two-hectare Coombe Brook Valley (locally known as The Gossie) is a haven for birds, mammals and insects.

Foxes, badgers and rabbits, woodpeckers and even a couple of green parakeets have been seen living in the valley which is comprised of wooded areas alongside a stream; mainly hazel, oak and sycamore. There is also a grassland meadow area further uphill.

The Coombe Brook Valley is a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) and is owned by Bristol City Council, and partly managed by BCC and the Avon Wildlife Trust with the support of the Friends of Coombe Brook Valley.

Unfortunately, the paths are all made of dirt and include stairs, making the valley not wheelchair or buggy-friendly.

Coombe Playground can be found near the top of the valley.
