To mark National Fish and Chip Day, Bristol World decided to visit the Clifton Village Fish Bar in Princess Victoria Street, one of the city’s most popular fish and chip shops.
National Fish and Chip Day takes place on the first week of June every year and it gives people across the country a chance to celebrate the quintessentially British meal at their favourite fish and chip shops.

Hide AdStarting at the age of just eight, Marco Maestri, owner of Clifton Village Fish Bar has worked in the fish and chip industry his whole life. He started by helping his father after school and at weekends.
So when the opportunity arose to buy his father’s old business in Clifton Village he had no choice but to go for it.
That was 11 years ago. Since then, he has expanded the business to the Stoke Bishop Fish Bar, an area where Marco grew up with his family.


Marco says: “The aim of the fish bar is to provide customers with the finest fish and chips as well as a warm and friendly atmosphere making a truly memorable experience.”

Hide AdAccording to Marco the secret to good fish and chips is “good quality ingredients, from the fish to the oil”.
Those who have tasted the delicacies from the Clifton Village Fish Bar will agree - the food is delicious.
