We try a Bristol restaurant serving food and drink at 2003 prices - including £3.50 pints and dishes under £5

Spanish restaurant Bar 44 in Clifton has launched a ‘flashback’ offer for January

Bristol restaurant Bar 44 has launched a fantastic lunch deal for January with ‘flashback’ prices on food and drink that take you straight back to 2003.

It’s to mark the 21st anniversary of Bar 44’s original venue opening in Wales, a time when Kelis was singing Milkshake and Finding Nemo was showing at cinemas.

The restaurant and bar in Regent Street, Clifton, is serving a range of sub-£5 dishes at 2003 prices throughout January, as well as pints of Estrella Galicia for just £3.50 and glasses of wine for £3.20.

Running alongside this ‘flashback’ menu is a special lunch offer of three tapas and a drink for £20, with choices including: pan con tomate, confit duck smoked morcilla burger, and Morunos chicken, spiced yoghurt and Mallorcan sobrasada.

Co-founder Natalie Isaac, who runs Bar 44 with brothers Owen and Tom Morgan, said: “This is our way of saying a heartfelt thank you to the customers who have supported us over the years - as well as being a welcome pick me up for people who might be feeling the pinch after Christmas. It proved wildly popular last year so we’re really looking forward to doing it again.”
