A short walk from the Ashton Lodge bus stop, by Rownham Hill, the Golf Cafe in the Activity Hub on the Ashton Court Estate felt like a good option to have a catch up lunch with my visiting parents.

After all, it’s one of Bristol’s most stunning locations and was bound to impress as the cafe can be accessed by passing through the beautiful arched entrance on the north east side of the 850-acre estate.

The cafe has both indoor and outdoor covered seating and is dog-friendly. There are multiple toilets just outside and next to the cafe. Information and hiring of the golf facilities can also be found next to the cafe.

I made my way to the cafe with my parents in the late afternoon, which meant that the cafe was quite quiet, with only a few of the seats being taken.

Being a rainy day, we decided to sit inside and ordered three hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows, one of which was with oat milk.

I also ordered a Cheddar, tomato and chutney toastie, a sticky cinnamon swirl and a packet of Burts mature cheddar and onion crisps to share.

The service was fast, and within minutes we received our hot drinks topped with a layer of whipped cream and cocoa powder. The toastie followed a couple of minutes after.

The hot chocolate had a decadent creamy top and the soft marshmallows could be tasted from the first sip. The warm sweetness of the hot chocolate paired well with the cold whipped cream.

As for the toastie, the bread was soft with a slightly crisp exterior. The tomato was refreshing and the melted cheese was creamy and stretchy. Overall the toastie was delicious and had a subtle herby taste. The soft sticky cinnamon swirl had a more earthy, sweet cinnamon taste in which the spice lingered. The pastry was also a bit chewy.

At £21.70 for our food and drink, I thought the prices were on the pricier end but the cafe is located in a good location if you want a quick refuel before heading into the activities offered by Ashton Court or exploring the estate.
