A horse was rescued from the River Avon near Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park last night (July 28).

Fire cews from Hicks Gate, Bath and Bedminster were calledto Pixash Lane in Keynsham just before 6pm to the horse which was in the water.

The crews used a safety boat to direct the horse, called Poppy, to a safe place to exit.

A Avon Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “On arrival, firefighters located the horse, launched the safety boat and ensured a safe place for the horse to exit once caught.

“Once rescued, the horse was left in the care of the responsible person.”
