Voi has brought in price changes to rent its e-scooters across Bristol and Bath today (May 7) - with new options for the monthly pass also introduced.
The company emailed customers to notify them of the price changes this morning, although many people reported finding it difficult to find the new prices, which were not in the email.
From today, it costs 16p per minute, plus a 99p booking fee, to ride an e-scooter on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The day pass has gone up in price. The pass, which provides up to nine rides or 200 minutes riding, has increased in price from £4.99 to £7.
And the monthly pass now has two options - 300 minutes for £35 per month or up to nine rides or 200 minutes a day for £50 per month.
In its email to customers, the company said: “We’re writing to inform you of price changes in Bristol and Bath. From Today, 7 May, the price to ride Voi will be adjusted across our Pay-As-You-Go, Day Pass and Month Pass products.
“In conjunction with these changes, after receiving a lot of helpful feedback from you, our riders, we are also expanding our Monthly Pass offering.
“Riders will now have access to two options, to add flexibility and better suit your riding habits. You can check the current prices of all products by clicking on the scooter symbol in the Voi app.”
The Voi e-scooter trial started in Bristol in 2020, and has divided opinion in the city with some praising its environmental impact while others raising concerns over parking and safety.
Last month, it was announced the scheme would cover the entirety of Bristol, having included 65% of the city up till now. This month, the e-scooters will arrive in the north west of the city, followed by the southern part previously excluded in May.
The trial has been extended to last until November 2022.
