You don’t always have to leave your hometown to get the most out of a hotel break, and Bristol is full to the brim with new additions, seasonal deals and stylish options. And with eight new hotels popping up throughout 2021 and 2022 and a few incredible refurbishments, it’s the perfect time to get one booked.

So, if you fancy a sneaky night away together but don’t want to stray too far away, take a look at some of these options.

If boutique is your style and interior design is something you rate highly then the new addition to Bristol of The Artist Residence is the perfect choice for you and your loved one. The new hotel is on creative Portland Square, so only five minutes from Cabot Circus and the bustling Stokes Croft for last-minute gifts and great food.

Set in a Georgian townhouse and old boot factory, the eccentric space has been designed especially to attract the local community as well as visitors from afar. To celebrate Bristol, the hotel has an eclectic array of limited-edition prints and original art, including commissioned works by local artists. With a new main bar, cafe and kitchen being added in spring, too, this is one to watch in 2022.

Another new kid on the block, the Leonardo Hotel makes for an easy option for those wanting to change it up a bit and have all the luxuries of a hotel without blowing the budget.

The 197-room stylish hotel is perfect for those who want to fully recline and relax, with their exclusively designed mattresses and DREAM beds pioneered with this in mind. With all the feels of a luxury hotel but at a more budget-friendly price point, this is a brilliant option for a mid-week escape without journeying too far from home.

A night spent in a bathtub while looking out over the twinkling lights of the suspension bridge sounds pretty romantic, right? Especially from within the dark, cosy and sumptuous interiors of the Avon Gorge Hotel by Hotel du Vin.

When it comes to luxury and a truly romantic night away, the room choices at the Avon Gorge won’t disappoint. Plus, they have extended their winter staycation package so that you can stay for longer and save up to 30% on your room.

Considering The Newt in Somerset has just been voted the most romantic hotel in England and among one of the most romantic in the world, it would be crazy not to include it on our list.

So it might be just a little hop, skip and a jump from Bristol, but at only a short drive away in Bruton, it still qualifies as a staycation to us! The beautiful Georgian estate will blow your mind with its picturesque views, sympathetic historic refurbishments and idyllic setting, and you can while away time in the gardens, cider orchard, or spa.
