A city centre street is expected to remain closed for several hours tonight (January 27) after a serious crash involving a car and motorcyclist.

The incident happened at the junction of Wine Street and Union Street at 3.55pm. Along with ambulance crews and police, an air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Police say the motorcyclist has sustained possible life-changing injuries.

Road closures are in place on Union Street, Bristol Bridge and at the junction of Wine Street and Baldwin Street.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We were called today (Friday 27 January) at 3.55pm to Union Street, in Bristol, following reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

“Emergency services, including the air ambulance, are at the scene. There are road closures in place on Union Street, Bristol Bridge and at the junction of Wine Street and Baldwin Street.”

First West of England tweeted that services 91/92, 349/X39/39/A1 were all taking diversions and passengers were adviced to board them at The Horsefair or Temple Meads.
