This year’s fourth annual awards show features the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Levi Roots, Ainsley Harriot, Gino D’Campo and Heston Blumenthal - and more top chefs are all up for the ‘Best Chef’ 2022 category.

A number of Bristol venues have also been nominated in this year’s awards, including Root in Wapping Wharf which is in the final running to be crowned UK’s Best Vegan Friendly Restaurant.

Eight eateries in the city have been nominated in the category of Best Restaurant in Bristol, including:

Tomo No Ramen

Tomo No Ramen means “friend’s ramen” and this West Street restaurant aims to create both food and an atmosphere that is familiar and open. Food-wise expect powerful flavours and warming broths made with sourced ingredients.

Namak

Authentic Indian cuisine including all the classics along with fresh, new dishes is served at this cosy restaurant St Werburgh’s. Your food will even come with ‘with a side order of magic tricks’ to be amazed by while you enjoy your meal.

Yafo

Yafo on North Street, Southville offers ‘truly authentic falafel’ along with a range of traditional dishes passed down through generations, washed down with craft beer, craft gin and cocktails.

Adelina Yard

An imaginative venue on Queen’s Quay offering fine dining in a relaxed and informal environment. Particularly popular is the restaurant’s eight course tasting menu with wine pairings on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Root

Local ingredients feature in a vegetable-focused menu at Root, which is situated in one of the iconic shipping containers at Wapping Wharf. The restaurant opened in 2017 with the aim of creating a ‘forward-thinking’ eaterie that championed local suppliers and producers, led with a ‘more veg, less meat’ ethos.

Wilsons

A ‘small, warm bistro’ offering a minimalist weekly changing menu plus organic and biodynamic wines. The restaurant in Redland has sustaiability at its heart and endeavours to support producers, growers and traders that use ethical and low impact methods.

The Ethicurean

An ethically conscious modern British restaurant set in a walled garden on the outskirts of Bristol, serving seasonal produce. The restaurant aims to take patrons ‘on a culinary journey’, celebrating the finest ingredients from the venue’s garden and beyond.

Casamia

Refined British dishes ‘inspired by all five senses’ served in a restaurant with seasonally changing decor at The General in Harbourside. The menu at Casamia is ‘always on the move’ and not your typical meal out - expect around 20 courses lasting about three and a half hours. The restaurant closed earlier this year but has still made the shortlist.

This year’s British Restaurant Awards 2022 takes place on the 12th of May 2022 at the Sway in London.
