The Galleries shopping centre in Bristol will reopen today (October 19) after three days of closure due to a power cut.

The shopping centre started to experience a power cut late on Sunday afternoon and didn’t open at all on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

But in a statement this morning, the management has confirmed that the shopping centre in Broadmead will reopen its doors today.

A spokesperson said: “The Galleries will reopen its doors this morning - the car park will be open from 6.30am and the shopping centre will be open from 9am.

“While some businesses may take a short while to get up and running again, we are looking forward to welcoming you back into the centre.”

The outage impacted a large section of the shopping centre and the car park, as well as a number of businesses attached to The Galleries including Santander bank and Boots, which remained closed for the three days.

Centre manager David Wait told Bristol World: “It has taken part of the centre out and part of the car park out so for the safety of customers and retailers, we’re not open while the issue is being fixed.

“In my four years at The Galleries, it’s the first time I’ve seen an issue like this. The last thing we want to do is close because it disrupts customers and retailers.“
