The best Bristol rooftop bars for a drink during this week’s ‘heatwave’
Some of them boast sweeping views of the city, Harbourside and even the surrounding countryside
The sun has finally made a long-awaited return so what better time to visit one of Bristol’s great rooftop bars?
With the kids back to school and summer holidays over, the first few days of September can often feel like ‘business as usual’ for most of us but with the forecast ‘Indian summer’ here for the week, there’s still plenty to enjoy.
With the Met Office predicting temperatures of around 28C towards the middle of the week, the next few days may well be the long overdue scorcher we have been waiting for.
Bristol has plenty of drinking haunts, and some of the best are rooftop terraces boasting incredible views.
Here are seven of our favourite alfresco drinking spots, but do let us know if we’ve missed yours and we can add them next time.

1. Gambas, Cargo, Wapping Wharf
Sit back with a chilled glass of wine, some of the freshest seafood tapas and soak up the views of the boats and you could easily be in Spain rather than Bristol’s old docks.

2. Zerodegrees, Colston Street
In a converted tram shed, this microbrewery has three separate outdoor areas and one provides stunning views over the rooftops and spires towards the surrounding countryside.

3. Dark Horse, Church Road, Redfield
Not even some of the locals realise the Dark Horse has such a great rooftop terrace at the back, often with DJs on the decks.

4. Mud Dock, The Grove
When the sun shines, there is no better place to be than the terrace at Mud Dock, which offers unbeatable panoramic harbourside views.
