Bristol World has listed the eight hardest primary schools to get your child into
Thousands of children missed out on a place at their preferred school in Bristol this year, official figures reveal.
Across England, 8% of primary school applicants and 17% of secondary school applicants did not get a place at their first choice school, affecting nearly 150,000 children in total.
Almost half of the pupils to select one Bristol primary school as their first choice were rejected as it proved to be the hardest to get into, with the school accepting 54.5% of applicants.
In the South West, 5.5% of applicants did not get into their first choice primary school. This meant 2,944 primary aged children did not get a place at their first choice school.
Inner London was found to have the hardest schools to get into in the country. One in every eight children (13%) did not get into their first choice primary school. This rose to one in three (33%) for secondary school places.

1. Elmlea Junior School, Westbury-on-Trym
Elmlea Junior School offers 90 places and was put as first preference by 142 pupils - accepting 63.4% of these.

2. Blackhorse Primary, Emersons Green
Blackhorse Primary School offers 55 places with 88 candidates selecting it as their preferred choice. It accepted 62.5% of these.

3. Brentry Primary School, Brentry
Bristol’s most oversubscribed primary school is Brentry Primary School. With 30 places available, it received 55 first pick selections - accepting just 54.5%.

4. Manorbrook Primary School, Thornbury
Manorbrook Primary School had a 56.9% success rate for students selecting it as their first choice pick. In total, 51 pupils selected it as their preference with 29 spots being available.
