There’s nothing quite like a short break to recharge the batteries and the UK has plenty of great city destinations, all of them easy to reach from Bristol by road, rail or air.
Whether it’s a long weekend or a mid-week break, a few days visiting a different city is a great way to enjoy the culture, nightlife and food and drink, as well as a change of scenery.
Which? asked its readers to choose their favourite UK cities for a short break, based on food, accommodation, sights and attractions, and value for money.
Of course, here at Bristol World we’re a bit biased when it comes to our own city so we’re thrilled to see it in the Top Ten.
Here’s a complete round-up of the ten best destinations in the UK for a short break - how many have you visited and where will you go next time?

5. Newcastle
Great food and drink, good shopping and plenty of culture with the Great North Museum: Hancock and Baltic art gallery (in a converted flour mill next to the river) makes Newcastle a firm favourite when it comes to city breaks and it’s number five in the Which? list. | AFP via Getty Images

6. Glasgow
At number six, Glasgow scored five out five for food and drink, but this great city also boasts striking architecture, contemporary art spaces and fascinating museums. When it comes to nightlife, Glasgow also knows what it’s doing, with countless venues for night owls. | Getty Images

7. London
No surprise to see London in the Which? list at number seven with a perfect score of five out of five for cultural sights but just two out of five for value for money. | Getty Images

8. Bristol
At number eight in the Top 10, our beloved city of Bristol scored top marks for food and drink, but only two stars for ease of getting around and valuer for money. | Getty Images
